This course is for:

✓ Mainstream and Special Education Primary School Teachers. 

✓ Teachers who want to deepen their knowledge and enhance their teaching of reading and writing.

✓ Anyone with a love of literacy teaching looking for background knowledge and understanding of the topic.

✓ Teachers who aren't sure about reading research or evidence-based practices. 

✓ Teachers who want ideas for the implementation of learning outcomes for the primary language curriculum. 

This course is created to the highest standards and is in line with the requirements of the Department of Education. 

✓ Participants are required to complete 10 hours of online material and 10 hours of offline study. 

✓ At the end of each module participants are required to complete a reflective task which will form their learning log. 

✓ Participants are required to make two posts to the forum as part of each module. 

✓ At the end of the course participants are required to complete a final reflective assignment, fill in a course evaluation form and upload their completed learning log.

✓ Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive an email with their certificate of completion.

✓ The course must be completed within the dates chosen. Due to a limited number of places it may not be possible to extend the time. 

✓  Participants can work at their own pace and in their own time to complete the course. All elements of the coursework must be completed within the dates chosen.

✓  The course materials will be available to download while the course is open. Participants will not have access to the online course material after the course is completed.

✓ Payment of the course fee confirms your place on the course. Payment for summer courses is non-refundable and non-transferrable except in exceptional circumstances.

✓ All EPV days are subject to the approval of your Board of Management. 

✓ Participants are reminded that Department of Education Guidelines state that teachers cannot complete two courses concurrently. Finish one EPV course before starting another.

Deirdre is passionate about literacy education and ensures that she keep up to date with current research and best practices. Along with extensive classroom experience, Deirdre is also studying for a PhD in Literacy Education in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick 

Deirdre has designed and presented courses in literacy education in various Education Centres throughout Ireland, both online and in person. Comments from the participants highlight that the webinars and workshops have a significant impact on their classroom practice and on pupil learning. They are highly complementary of the delivery and content.
